In the late
1940’s Henry Cifaloglio began his family business serving
the Buena, Mays Landing and Hammonton communities in Atlantic
County, New Jersey. The family business grew and broadened in
scope. Cifaloglio, Inc. (currently owned by Henry’s children)
services the solid waste needs of the eight south Jersey counties
from its Transfer Station and Recycling Operation located in
Buena Vista Township, Atlantic County. The Cifaloglio, Inc.
fleet consists of more than thirty vehicles and in excess of
1,000 containers that provide solid and liquid waste collection.
Their waste collection operations include: front-end service,
roll-off and self contained compactor service, portable toilet
service and grease trap pumping. Cifaloglio’s service
area extends from Burlington and Ocean Counties to Cape May
and Salem Counties. The Company provides comprehensive and reliable
solid waste services to all of southern New Jersey and eastern
Pennsylvania.
In the late 1980’s the company moved from its original
location on Route 40 to its Transfer Station on Route 54 just
south of Hammonton, New Jersey. The Transfer Station is fully
permitted by the State of New Jersey – Department of Environmental
Protection (“NJ-DEP”) and is included in the Atlantic
County Solid Waste Management Plan. The Transfer Station operation
includes a fully permitted Material Recovery Facility ("MRF")
that recovers multiple recyclable materials from the waste stream.
Most recently the company has received approval of Atlantic
County Board of Freeholders and the Pinelands Commission to
increase its operations from approximately 100 tons-per-day
to approximately 1,250 tons-per-day. Importantly, Buena Vista
Township has also formally supported the expansion plan. The
Township receives a “Host Municipality Fee” on solid
waste that is not recycled and leaves the facility. In 2003
the NJDEP approved the Company’s expansion plans to increase
the capacity of its Transfer Station to 500 tons-per-day. Expansion
modifications to the Transfer Station were also completed in
2003. The Company is permitted to operate twenty-four hours
per day and seven days per week to meet the collection and disposal
needs of their customers.
The Company has embraced technological advances to enhance management
controls. Recently, it upgraded its accounting and operations
management systems. It also implemented real-time communication
with all of its collection and transfer vehicles. This has enhanced
customer service due to their immediate ability to respond to
customer needs. These technological advances have provided appropriate
management information to accommodate growth while maintaining
the Cifaloglio family tradition of excellent service. The Company’s
operational and environmental record is excellent. Cifaloglio,
Inc. is 100% family owned.
